Brunch Life at Virtue Restaurant In Chicago
Two weekends ago was my first time seeing my girls since Covid started. Now that things are open, it was good to meet up with friends again. I wont lie, I felt a little bit of anxiety but I had my mask and I was ready to wash my hands with sanitizer at any point.
When we arrived they tested our temperature. We were not allowed inside without a mask on. There’s also outdoor seating as well, but this day was the first hottest day of the year and we chose to be inside under the AC ☺️. Inside, tables were spread apart, every employee had on a mask and the waiters had on gloves as well. When our waitress used our phone to take a picture of our group, she immediately put on another pair of gloves before serving us.
This particular meet up was for one of the besties birthday. We chose Virtue, in Hyde Park Chicago, because many of us had never been and we wanted to support a black owned restaurant.
I ordered the Gumbo with Mac & Cheese, Corn Bread & Honey Butter, and a Caribbean Dream Cocktail. My meal was great. The only thing I disliked was that the Mac & Cheese is made with sour cream😩 my mouth was watering for Mac & Cheese. I hate sour cream. Had I known, I would have requested if it could be made without.
Friends ordered the Half Chicken, Beef Short Ribs, Salmon, and Shrimp.
I’d definitely return back to this restaurant again and would refer it to others. The atmosphere and customer service were both perfect.
